I imagined my 1st diary post to be positively glowing with enlightenment. Well, you'll need to tune in later to be enlightened. Right now, I am still wrapping my mind around how quickly my peers in the travel industry were able to pivot to accommodate the latest CDC recommendations for travelers arriving and returning to the U.S.

Professional travel agents are mentally agile and comfortable stepping outside the box to come up with creative solutions on the fly. Well, it appears we didn't have to stretch out for 2021 since we are still limbered up from 2020 and our suppliers have increased their flexibility as well. When word got out that all arrivals in the U.S. will be required to present a negative COVID test result, multiple resorts around the Caribbean and Mexico announced they would include a pre-departure COVID testing in their vacation packages now for their guests convenience. Travel agents immediately began to develop vacation ideas and plans for clients that were no longer comfortable traveling internationally. Current plans were cancelled and new ones put in place in what appeared to be a blink of the eye. They didn't even miss a beat. That is a long way from the initial panic we saw last year. We just needed to adjust the sails a little and keep moving forward.

Final thought:

Professional travel agents are not obsolete, they are behind the scenes bad ass miracle workers! Seriously, the job should come with a cape.
